Arm and a Leg
wow, you are lucky weed. thats a killer deal. and i really do love having a 2500, even though it seems like most parts cost quite a bit more. my only regret is that mine isnt 4wd. but for $8000 out the door for a truck with less that 60k on it, how could i say no?
I WISH!! 2500 2wd is IFS.
Why are you glad you have a 4x4? It sucks having a 4x4 when changing gears because you have too do both the front and back.
With that TQ Converter I would strongly reccomend upgrading to the HD trans cooler if you do not have one (although you should since your truck is a 2500). If you dont, there are 2 different versions of the HD cooler, one is a wider aluminum cooler, if you are in the snow or colder climates that get down below freezing this is the one you want. If you live in the desert or warmer climate get the one off the 03'-04' 2500, this cooler basically looks like the size of your radiator, its huge, and will cool it down even further than the aluminum one will.
Second, after you get the converter installed your very next mod needs to be a trans temp gauge (if you do not have one already). The converter can/will cause extra heat. With roller bearings it probably wont be to much of a difference but just as a precaution I would get one just to keep an eye on things specially if you do not have the HD trans cooler and decide not to replace it.
Last, I know your truck, being a 2500, is quite a bit heavier than mine is, but after you get the gears and converter in, you may want to look into some mods to help a little with traction as well. Trust me, its no fun when you have all that power and tq at the wheels and you cant use it to your full advantage cause all you do is sit and spin.
Sorry if I made you mod list a little longer
I got my gears for my 2500 at 650$ CDN taxes in. That was both sets too. Installed it at dads shop with our mechanic telling me what to do and me pulling wrenches. What a learning experience that was.
Couple things...

what are some mods to help with traction? that area is all new to me.
Yeah, the guy is not hosing you on the ring and pinion. $425-$450 is the going rate for either Chrysler or Yukon ring and pinions, plus about $100 for the install kit. Labor is on the higher end of the spectrum for a single axle, but still within range.
If he knows his chit, it's a fair deal...

For gauges have you looked into the isspro performax. Very easy to install and the isspros match the factory gauges very well. Im not a huge fan of stuff like the aeroforce where its just one gauge that does everything from the trucks computer. Id rather trust actual probes exactly where I want them where I put them.. And I think stuff like that looks tacky in a truck. Just my .02.. For the setup I use my handle to get into my truck everytime so I bought the srt pillar with the handle still and 1 gauge and I put a trans temp in it and I just bought the 4 gauge pod for above the mirror but Im not sure what to put into that yet, Most likely air pressure for OBA for horns and on the trail.. Rear diff temp.. Tcase Temp cause I use 4wd alot.. and ill figure the 4th out later.. you can get pods for above the mirror that hold 2, 3 or 4
