Default Hella questions

Well, I decided to get the Hella's if ya saw my decisions post. The level was gonna cost more than I had anticipated. With the Hella's I had heard you could put 100w bulbs in em and their like the sun then. I was told to do that I needed heavier wiring. What gauge of wire do I need to handle the current? Also with the toggle, do I run the toggle in the ground or positive? Or will I have to wire up some kind of relay to handle the current?

you can run a relay if you wanted to, but it is not necessary. You switch the power wire, not the ground wire. If yyou used a relay, your possibilities of how you want it to be wired are vast. as far as the guage of wire, i would say probably a 10 or 12, however i will let someone else here with more knowledge be the deciding factor. Good luck dude!

Ok, I just got home with these babies and I'm confused. It comes with a relay and all but the way it tells me to wire it they will only come on with my Hi-Beams? Am I understanding that correctly or will they still kick on when I flip the toggle? Please give a somewhat quick reply I wanna go test these suckers.

Always use a relay. Its not rocket science at all trust me. Take your time ask questions solder, shrink, loom and tie everything and your set for life. Put in quality work and try hard to make it look factory chances are it will protect the wiring better and the install looks so much cleaner.

you might need to file down the bottom of the mount to get em to aim low enough. should be something about it in the DIY i think

All I can say is wow! These things light up the road more than I thought they would. I remember someone tellin me I could put 100w bulbs in em, how much brighter would that make these things? I know I couldn't run them with other cars around just like hi-beams. With the 100w's I would have to put in a bigger gauge wire but what wires do I need to replace? I would think that since I used a relay I would only have to replace the positive goin to the lights and the negative coming off the lights? Correct me if I'm wrong.
