Overall? H1....PERIOD! I have an '85 military humvee and my buddy has a wrangler with some work done to it....no contest! Here's the breakdown....

Mud: H1 (by far)
Sand: H1 (by far)
Rocks: tie (H1 better on steep side grades, Jeep is more nimble and the short wheelbase is a plus)
Water: (do I have to answer? ....you really cant appreciate an H1 until it takes you up to the windshield in water)

Now, I'm not knocking the Jeeps at all...they can be built into some pretty awesome machines, but stock for stock there is no comparison to the H1.

Here's a pic....

(I get more compliments on the plate than I do on the truck!)

Keep in mind that I am neglecting price...h1's are ridiculously overpriced.....thats why mine has no interior and is only 2 years younger than me

They are also wide and not very good for narrow trails...but out in the dunes you can slide these things down sideways! So wide does have advantages.

...and why isnt Range Rover on here?

as long as you can fit it on the trail, the H1 wins hands down... if any of the others were as capable then the military would have bought them instead of the H1. War proven to be the absolute best. AM General Division makes a good product that just gets better every year...

Lamborghini produced an off-road vehicle a long while back(1977), before the H1 and it was called the Cheetah and it looked amazingly like what the H1 looks like now and it used a Chrysler 5.9 for its engine. Of course some people think that Lambo just copied the FMC XR 311 which also used a chrysler tranny and a 318.

First pic is of the Cheetah and the second 2 are of the FMC...

Just an interesting fact of military off-road history for those whom wished to be bored by me.

Early 70's model international scout or late 60's/early 70's land cruisers will handle better off road than anything on that list. You cant stop them. They dont do it fast, but they get past stuff that leaves everything on that list (with the exception of the wrangler) hung up.
