It has to be a jeep wrangler. A new rubi will beat anything offroad, from factory

im gonna have to go ahead and kinda disagree with you on that one. although the jeeps off road capabilities are pretty damn good...the H1 can do everything it can and more, so im gonna have to with that.

H1...only vehicle I have seen get rolled on cement and barely have a scratch on it, MP's were playing with it on the old airstrip and it got away from them...hehe best thing I ever saw. Got pulled out of all kinds of stuff by them on the base so it gets my vote for off-road,

is this meaning only new vehicles or all vehicle in general? because i had a 1977 scout II. it had the v8, so it had the power of the big boys. it had a short wheel base and wasn't as wide as a full size vehicle, but more stable then a jeep. plus it had a solid axle with leaf springs for great articulation.

Jeep wrangler hands down. The military went to the Hummer for safety reasons. They had rollover problems with the jeep so wrote the MIL spec that resulted in a vehicle to big and wide to navigate many trails.

In a follow the leader game, I'd eather be waiting behind a Hummer or have it wedged between two obstacle within a few minutes.

Oh yea. I've driven both in off road situations. The Hummer while in the military. The Hummer is great in open terrain, but less capable than the jeep in many off road situations.

Hummers are too wide and too heavy. I've seen many H1s being pulled out of mud holes by Jeeps, Blazers, etc. So I'm going with the Jeep Wrangler.

It's a toss up for me on many of the vehicles except the H1 and H2. Both are a waste of money in my opinion. The H1 is too wide (already mentioned) to navigate most trails and the H2 is just for posers (IMHO) with an extra 50K laying around. I've only seen one H2 off road and that was on a logging road. The rest have been nice and shiny on the interstate or in mall parking lots.

I've got a built up Cherokee that I love. I've paid maybe 14K for my 98XJ in 2000 and since then I've put maybe 4K into a 4.5" lift, 31" tires, locker, skid plates, tow points, engine/exhaust mods, etc. This is 10K less than the Rubi and can go more places with my family (read baby seats) and all our camping stuff! Here's some pics of my XJ.

Let the flamming begin!

Later,
Rough

I still think a Land Rover is a pretty good wheeler. Not the LR3 though. What about the Mercedes-Benz G-wagen?
