Yes you DO need longer shocks with a level..
well as you know, awile back i leveled my truck. i havent gotten around to putting the longer shocks on (grocery distribution business is a little busy around the holidays
)
well this morning i was driving home from work it was about 0* out... there are certain potholes i alwyas avoid because they top out the shocks. i forgot about one of them and slammed it hard. hard enough to crack the corner of the windshield!
its not very noticeable and is small for now...
just thought i'd let you guys know... sometimes topping out shocks can cause damage

IDK about the 4wd but I bought a set of extender for mine from AZ for about $5 just FYI. Ill get some better and longer shocks later as money permits. Does your insurance company repair the glass for free?
if the potholes are in city limits i would go to the city hall and throw down. here in missouri a friend of mine's tires all popped from road construction they were doing (had to switch lanes from asphalt to concrete with a step up) she called MoDOT and they ended up having to replace tires on like 40 different vehicles for free.
might be worth a shot at getting a free windshield.

Sorry to hear about that! I ran with my stock shocks and everytime I hit a speedbump it slammed me down and I was waiting on something to break. Night and day since getting the longer shocks. Yea, you do need either longer shocks or relocation brackets.
I'm almost at two years on my 2 1/2" level kit and still the OEM shocks at 103K. I get my truck off the ground every so often just for the fun of it. No issues at all. I suspect the windshield crack was a combo of cold and pothole.
