Default 2008 Ram Hemi MDS BigHorn Edition

I just bought my ram witht he Hemi MDS...I am trying to start to look for mods and I dont know any technical mechanics so I dont know how to Cam it out and stuff. I wanted your guys opinions on intakes, exhaust, and programmer. I was read on here that if you put an aftermarket exhaust you will hurt the motor?..I dont figure how. I am thinking Gibson headers..Magnaflow exhaust, highflow cats...and a superchips cortex programmer...but I dont know all about the programmers. Any tips on programmers? Mine truck has 3.92s...can I get 4.56s?

ok, for the hemi, i would recommend a diablosport predator for the programmer. you can turn the mds off using that and then you can get an aftermarket exhaust on it. put on an aftermarket exhaust with mds on and it sounds terrible, so i hear...haven't experienced it myself. i have a diablosport and i turned my mds off and it makes a world of difference with throttle response. you can always turn it back on if you want it. i've always had good luck with magnaflow exhaust, have had it on a couple of vehicles i've owned including my '05 ram and i loved the way it sounded, it was a 4.7ltr though. get a aem brute force cai, love that thing. i have a stock exhaust on mine and it makes it sound good at wot. good luck man.

i have after market exhaust with my 08 hemi and it sounds great.

JW what kind of gas mileage do you get with the MDS system off, i have never had anything that isnt true V8 at all times so i was kinda hesitant about the MDS stuff and i was actually talking crap about it 3 days befor i bought my truck.

gas mileage isn't bad. i get about 12 in the city and about 16 on highway. i don't drive much, so mileage isn't a huge issue. i do like to go fast and don't baby it. i've read on this forum that with the mds on, an aftermarket exhaust doesn't sound very well, unless you have the right one, don't ask me which would that would be.

Default MDS and Diablo Sport

Mine has some sort of after market exhaust, may just be a resonator, and it sounds good with MDS...Does DiabloSport offer any shift points or timeing or does it just shut off MDS? I dont know how to adjust timing and crap..I just want a big goer~! LOL~! I dont know **** about these computerfied trucks. I just bought my truck like a month ago and it seems like it already lost some omf..?
I dont know how putting a full exhaust on a truck would hurt it but thats what somebody posted on here, specifically about the Hemi...I had a 06 Dak with AEM Brute Force CAI,gibson headers and exhaust and it sounded F`N SWEET~! I was just hoping to find a true CAI for my Ram!. Maybe some better plugs too..a hotter spark would probably help.

new and better plugs would def help. the predator offers a lot of options including shift points, plus it's updateable. an aftermarket exhaust will not hurt you're hemi. i'm just alittle hesitant on getting a new exhaust because i'm affraid of what it will sound like if i have to turn my mds back on. i do know that you need some back pressure from your exhaust and if there isn't any, that may hurt.

Magnaflow cat-back, Magnaflow Y to replace the rear of the stock y-pipe where the pipes are crimped, and a Diablosport Predator will be a good start. The factory cats flow plenty, no need to replace them.
You exhaust is probably stock, 1 large muffler and a small resonator in the tail pipe.

You will not gain from a custom tune until you open up the heads and install a larger camshaft.
