My Experience With my Sound System.
Yea I think they had it pretty much summed up. I had a Alpine amp I really liked a lot until it got stolen. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I had it powering 2 12" Infinity subs which also got stolen with it.
I really like Alpine, Kicker, Boston Acoustics, Polk Audio, and Infinity for car audio stuff. JVC Aresonal head units seem decent also. Profile amps are also cheap and seem to be very good for the price. I had a Profile amp stolen out of another car at the same time the rest of the stuff was taken and it was also a good amp. I don't know that I think it's quite as good as the Alpine but it's also about half the price and it's pretty darn close. I had another one I sold to a buddy and he bought the Alpine and returned it as he said the Profile hit harder and the Alpine wanted to shut down. He was powering 2 15" subs. He later switched to two Profiles and they hit extremely hard.
You also need to have proper air space for the subs as said earlier. Look up the subs and see how much air space they want in a box and follow that. Then make sure you all have it adjusted and set up properly.
My experience with stereo's is you can get them to sound amazing but it usually costs quite a bit and then it's not rare at all to have them end up stolen. IMO it's not really worth it. I'd just get a decent head unit maybe some decent speakers and leave it alone. In a lot of vehicles I'd just leave the stock one alone. I know my second gen the stock one was horrible though so if the 3rd gen one is like that I'd get the H/U and speakers like I said and leave the rest alone. I might not would even change the HU so that it would have a stock appearance. Just not worth putting a ton of money into a system just to have it stolen. I've read quite a few stories online about people getting theirs stolen as well as talked to people who have run into that. I never thought too much about it until mine got stolen now I realize they just aren't worth it for the most part.

Ihave a pair of JBL 10" in an isobaric box and they sound very nice. I have always poered them with an old Kenwood 921 amp. I use it in the Mustang sometimes. Sits in the garage mostly now. I don't listen to the radio in the car, the exhaust sounds better
There is absolutely no excuse for your comments. Thats the kind of stuff that will get you a nice vacation from the forum. Keep your comments to yourself if you dont have anything good to add
word af you get him....op never heard of that amp at all been around car audio my whole life its hard to find a good box at a cheap price for these trucks no place for it...fox is the best but your gonna pay for it...i cheaped out on my sub setup cause i didnt have the money at the time and i still got kicker 10s they punch but dont bang and ride out like my 15"s in my car...no way....but i havent upgraded the system yet cause i still dont have the funds and it sounds fine and clean....just wished it banged a lil more....but yes get a real good amp kenwood makes great stuff...hell i got a fosgate pushing my 2 15's and it sounds fantastic...got the amp free too....
What are we 5 years old now? He breaks them and then lies and gets the company to replace them. I guess thats morally right..
i understand where you are coming from with his "scamming" for new subs. However, the company he bought them from gets reimbursed by the manufacturer of the woofers. They make Millions! I'm sure you have done similar things whether you realized it or not. $5 or $500 items. Morally the same.
The last comment about his lift and being an idiot had nothing to do with what the OP had asked of you.
The whole phrase is fine execpt the ridicule part..."idiot"
Just be a little more mellow in your opinions or observations and review the forum policies.
As for the subs with the stock deck...BAD...stock deck does just what Lxman said and more. JL clean sweep will solve that problem. Super cheap HERE
Plus, the more the gain increases, the more distortion created....especially of the stock deck...Yuck!
As for what amp do i recommend? Man, i can think of all kinds of amps but here is the best piece of equipment advice i can give, go pick up a car stereo mag and go through it. Look and see what guys in clubs and contests are using. Now granted its likely most of thier gear is given to them if they are all running high end gear and have the same companys name plastered on thier window or body but my point is that they use "reputable" gear for a reason. You wont see them using no low budget gear in any of thier rides.
