Default New 2009 Ram 2500 offer?

Hey guys,

I'm new here and was wondering what kind of an offer I should make on this new 09' Ram truck I saw in PA. The msrp is $42k but I was thinking somewhere in the 20k range because I would like a warranty instead of used. Plus it would be my first NEW truck. Any help would be great and God Bless.

I will leave the welcome to a regular! But hey, how you doin?

Some negotiation skills can be found on the net. If you know someone that deals in cars or has experience take them with you. Whatever you do don't go it alone.

as far as the offer, try 20% off what they want for it for starters. Then go from there. No matter what there will be another truck out there that is probably better, bigger, and cheaper. Don't be overly interested, you probably already know this stuff.

And as far as buy new or used, it's gonna cost you money either way. Remember the fast it's payed off the faster you stop paying interest on your loan. I would buy something I could pay off in two years then toy with it!

not a chance you're gonna get it for anything in the 20k range. even though its an 09, you can probably only expect to come down to 32-35k at best

Just wondering because I know they gotta start wantin to get rid of it pretty quick so they can get the 10's goin. Again I know trucks pretty well and My Dad would go with me. But I mean I did see another dealer Hummer of course selling new 07 H2s for 30k range. Still no way in hell I can pay 30k for a truck right now but thought it would be a good deal.

This is exactly what I would get if I had that kind of money. Well not exactly, the only thing different would be 4x4. I don't think I will ever have a 2wd truck unless its a dually highway towing machine.

i would never buy new, but thats just me. they drop a few grand the second you pull off the lot. but anyways, you could over 75% of what they're asking, and see what they say. but as the others have said, no way are you getting one in the 20s. maybe an 07-08

I'm no expert, in fact I'm looking for opions in the same area.

From my trails and errors with dealers, you decide what you want to pay, make your offer, if they say no walk away.

Don't be ruled by your emotion, off hours get ga ga all you want, at the tiime of battle, draw your line in the sand, no nogation.

If your happy with your offer, and you drive away, be happy, never look back, don't play the depraction game with your self, just enjoy.

When you buy used, your paying depraction right thier on the spot, sometimes more than a new truck, used intrests rates are higher!!!

The dealer is not taking a hit selling a 42 grand truck for 20 grand, sometimes dodge is storing stock on dealers lots for nothing, sometimes the dealer has made a investment in buying the truck, and will never sell until they make a buck, costs the dealer nothing to park a truck, if stock is not moving, than that truck is holding up sales.

If your sales person gets a bonus for monthly sales, sometimes they might take a hit on their commisson to round up thier sales numbers, this will never happan with used stock.

Dealerships have to make money, or no dealership, they will not give away the farm, and your the salespersons problem who inturn begs to the sales manager to take your offer and than fights with you to up your offer.

I have never ever had any respect for a sales person, they just get in the way, if possible, go right to the sales manager.

My uncle just picked up up a 2009 with about 25K miles for about 30K. The truck is completely optioned out (I mean everything). It was a factory rep. vehicle.

Yeah, they aren't discounting like they did back in 08 when you could buy for almost 1/2 price on certain trucks.
