I used to notice that alot when towing the boat I used to have with rear exit exhaust on my chevy. I also noticed it towing a box trailer,not so much towing my utility trailer(because there wasn't a good surface for the sound to bounce off of). You do get reflected sound back at you even when the engine isn't working hard but It never really bothered me that much.
