Default I need a experts advice on buying new..

Here it is... I have started shopping for a 2010 CTD crew cab with a 6sp, my 06 2500 will be tradded in. I'm not upside down on my 06, nor am I prepared to just give the truck away to get a deal.

A laramie crew, 2500 with the ctd and 6sp is may target truck, Most likely it will be a factery order to get the 6sp manual, on line at dodge.ca, this truck is close to 62 grand. cdn

My 06 2500 reg cab might be worth 25,000 grand cdn, and I know that' is optomostic.

How can I work drving down the price of the new truck and drive up the price on my old truck.

AT the end of the day, I can live with paying over time on 25,00 grand and I will be more than happy not to pull the trigger.

you'll always get more for your 06 selling private party. go in to the dealer and just talk numbers. ask them what theyd give you for it. i'll bet you could sell it for higher private party.

How many miles are on your current truck? I would sell it outright, try that.

Also, when buying your new truck, see if you can find somebody who can give you an "A" plan number, or a comparable code. If your not familar heres what it is. There are some large corporation that have an account, for lack of better term, with certain car manufactures. Such as; my Dad works for Chevron, and Chevron buy many different vehicles. So manufactures give them discounts, and allow them to give their employees a code in order to entice to buy new. Like Ford has an "X" plan, this is $100 over dealer invoice. If you bring in the "X"plan number, you can the vehicle for $100 invoise, no questions asked.

Just a thought. I know dodge has a similar plan, and I think it might be called the "A" plan... not sure though.

yea, if you have a friend or family member that owns a smaller work business, they probably have a distributor account. Like 04 said, 100 over invoice.

Like my best friend for 20 years' dad is the CEO of a Railway service company. They only buy chevys, and they are a chevy distributer. My friend got his 2500 duramax for low 40s

In Canada, I don't beleave thiers perks for being assocated with any companys that I know, When Daimler used to own Chrysler, Frightliner employee's could get deals.

I still owe some money to Chrysler credit, Not alot, but enough that dealing with a privet buyer would be a head ace, Ie buying out the lien, transfer of ownership.

I have 86,000 Km on my truck, not a lot, but I don't need the cargo utility of a reg cab, I need people capacity, with a 8 foot trailer, I get back my 8 foot box.

I don't want the RAm 1500, car with a box, and I don't want a automatic, I had to factery order my 2500 reg cab, just to get the hemi with a 6sp, and now you can't get the hemi with a 6sp, CTD is the only option, I will not own a Automatic.

IN the US. Building a truck online is a hell of a lot cheaper than in Canada, CDN $$ is almost at par and the 2500 Rams are made in Mexico, To bring into Canada, I would have to pay GST, tire tax, add ay time running lights, and get the okay from US. Customs.

AS per the dealer, I have my ball park price worked out that I will pay, vers being told what I can pay, The dealer will soon be calling and I have to wait if Chrysler credit still likes me...

well those 2010 HDs are nonexistent here, I haven't seen one. There aren't going to be any good rebates on them though. you can contact consumer reports and they will give you (for a price) a list of dealer invoice prices and how to get more out of your trade in/selling techniques.

Those 4gen 1500s are nice, man. You can order a heavier coil package, supposedly they handle weight better than leafs. If price is an issue get a 2009 2500 QC CTD and youll save a little bit. I dont know how buying across the border works, but you might look into that too

Well, A 4rth gen 1500 Ram is not for me, I agree, thier verry nice to drive, lots of power, but at the end of the day, I don't want one.

Now the iron could be in the fire, chrysler, gave me the go ahead with credit, and all of a sudden I'm not to eager to take on more debit, better to have buyers remorse now than after.

I have seen some 2010 2500 crew cabs, loaded for a banker, I have only seen one CTD truck, a Laramie, majority have a hemi, with aautomatics, I have to have a 6sp manual, so I pay extra for a ctd.

I owe 6800.00 on my 06, and do not have to make a payment until oct 2010, my truck was financed in june 06, on a fiver year term at 0%, now chrysler finenace ( canada ) is offering a 2.4 % varriable rate over 5 years.

I also might owe revene canada some money, taxable gain due to writting off the capital depreaction, now I don't use my truck for employment.

with out prepaying, my monthly payments on the 06 were 580.00 a month.

One trick I'm considering is not to barrgin with the MRSRP, and get the dealer to add ten grand + to my trade in value.

I'm gonna eat the ammount owing on my 06 if I trade anyways.
