First the reason for the tail-off is simple... if you have NO tonneau cover, its best to cut air damming from the box.... I have done this before, and it works... also with 390's in the rear, you may need some weight if your spinning off the line, I have in the past used sand bags over each wheel, then you can increase traction.... with my truck I have been testing the best rpm- brake-lock, for traction, and I am finding it wil light them up easy as hell with my 456's.. so we are working with bags and revs to get the best hole shot possible... I figure I may as well do my best with what I have.....
I Do agree with ya Drew, regarding weight, that is my big prob in the rear... but I am glad for one thing, and that is I have 12" wide sneakers on my toy, and shes pretty strong out....but braking to engage the converter and eliminating the delay is where I have a prob... damn thing spins like a top, LOL........

I know one thing, this old man is goin to the track, and hopefully I will catch a good light and make a statement with my truck... will let ya all know what happens, and try and get some pics with it....

Anyway, I wish you luck Viper, and let me know how you do.... GUIDO

Well, everything looks in line for tomorrow. I should have a 1/4 tank and the truck is runnin well. I hope I don't break it, I have to drive to Texas next friday for my next duty station, haha. I've actually never had a problem breaking the ties loose, the Ram's always stuck tight. I'm hoping that's the case tomorrow cause I'm going to try and raise the launching RPM's. Hope you get to the track, Guido, let her rip good.

Ok, guys, thursday nite is the test... me and hemi are going to the strip to see what she will do... I have my mod for CAI, and am feeding it 93 fuel to get her primed, lol, she seems pretty happy and is only worried about my age (reflexes arent what they used to be)...
My girl is going also and will take pics and video if possible....funny fact, I havent raced at the strip since 1979, so this will be interesting... I have been practicing my reflexes tho, clicking the tv changes in less that a sec. and dropping my teeth and catching them before they hit the floor....
All kidding aside, I will let you all know, good or bad.... but I dont plan on doing bad................

later.....GUIDO

VIPER, will do it up for the flyboys.....

hey all, well the toy went to the strip, and here are the results....was disappointed till I spoke to other drivers, they said this is a slow track, what ever that means..... raced 3 times, first two were against mustangs, SVO and cobra, and the last was against an 05 ford, w/ 5.4...HP kit (whatever that is) and CAI, Chip, and Flows....was worried but got him.....

Heres the times.. remember its a 1/8th mile track.......

#1 10.072 @ 70.099 spinnin tires... svo stang......got me..
#2 10.238 @ 69.357 spinnin tires bad...cobra stang...got me...
#3 10.045 @ 70.045 Ford truck, wipped him....

I used tow haul on first two...but she bogged when she shifted from 2nd to 3rd...auto- shifted at 4500 rpms, lost power...
the third I just wanted to beat this truck, didnt matter.....look at the printout... the kid was impressed, I wasnt, wanted more, but he said hes strong at this track...so i dont know..

One thing I did notice, she launched real strong, all the way thru first (shifted at 6K auto)... but she sifted at 4500 from second to third...
I have to find a way to shift it manually to get the rpms from second... she pulls REAL strong after 4500rpms.....

soooo, I did it so far, and was happy with my reaction times....but I think she can do better...
Anyone know how to calculate what she would do in the 1/4 mile????
that would be cool to know....

Sorry I didnt do better, but they (at the track) said it was impressive..... bullshi--ers, I guess........

remarks are welcome..
ACID...nice run, man......It was a gas to do, im hooked again.....................

Guido. Looks like you need some slicks with that gear your running. Too much torque multiplication. You might do better at another track though.
