Ram Dragstrip ETs
hey guys. i am new to this whole thing and have a few STUPID questions! lol yall keep speaking of pwerbreaking what exactly is that? i have 3.7L 02 ram with 4.10 rear end. what do you think i will run with a manual trany?? u think i will be able to keep up with you v8's?
Just for fun I took both trucks out and ran them with my G-tech Pro today. Both were power-braked to around 2000 rpm and on both of them I left it in Drive with the tow/haul off.
'05 Ram 1500 Quad Cab, hemi, 3.92 LSD, 22" wheels, 2/3 drop, 2K miles.
Made 8 runs at sea level, about 60 degrees out.
Best 0-60=7.2 sec
Best 1/4 ET=15.52 sec
Best 1/4 MPH=90.5
'03 Lightning, Bassani exhaust, 200K miles.
Made 7 runs, same conditions.
Best 0-60=6.52
Best 1/4 ET=15.10
Best 1/4 MPH=93.8
Some observations:
The L was hard to launch without spinning the rears while the Ram only spun briefly before hooking up. I'm pretty sure I could have pulled another 10th out of the L, but since I was running on the road near my house I didn't want to stir any of the neighboors up. The Ram started bogging on up-shifts after about 5 passes - not sure what that was about. Maybe the trans was getting hot.
Both trucks had 1/2 tanks of gas and soft bed covers.
Strangely, with the L all three 'best' numbers were posted on the same run (my last run; despite the engine getting hotter I was getting better at hooking it up). With the Ram, all three 'best' numbers were posted on different runs. Not sure what that means, if anything.
I've ordered a Superchips programer. It will be interesteing to see if it helps close the gap. I don't expect to catch the L, but I should be able to get closer.

Any ram owners here running in the 13's. If so what modd's do you have on your truck to get into the 13's. I know it doesn't take much to get into the 13's just like exhaust, headers, CAI, superchip, and 4.10 gears would get you deep into the 13's.
New truck cabs are designed to create an air pocket in the bed that allows for better aero dynamics. Tail gate down was true with pre 2k modle eras. However in racing, no matter what H.P. you have, for every 100 lbs you lose you gain 1/10th of a second.
