Exclamation A few hella problems, help!

Alright since I went into this never wiring anything before and doubting myself I think I'm doing ok. I mounted the two lights, ran the wires where they need to go, put the switch under steering wheel, ran the two wires through the firewall, and now I'm stuck.

I want the lights to come on with just the switch and the box directions make it seem like it's wiring them up to Come on with the high beams or w/e.

So what do I do for this, or is the directions correct for the switch and I'm just confused?

Second i took some picutres of the process and let me know if it looks ok (kinda messy but I'm just learning and getting started)

and I think it says to hook that little blue wire up that I'm holding in my hand to the switch as well as the other two wires, do I? And is it a ground? And if so where would I ground that. (the one with the lobster looking claw at the end)

And what's the other blue wire off the light go to? It shows a picutre of a little round tip thing connected. Is that a ground? (step 6 shows it in the first picture that has the directions in backround)

And what's the propper way to use the red connector things, just strip the wire alittle on both ends and put together then clamp it down shut? and that blue splittler with clamp down part sticking up that gets pushed down.

Lol I'm sorry if I make no sense or what ever I just wanna get this done and be able to do it myself

so thanks in advance and hope you can solve my problems.

can you take a better picture so i can read the instructions? What wires have you ran so far? Wheres everything hooked up to the relay? how many wires are coming off the hellas? The switch is the one with the light right? so it needs power to it to work that.. technically there should be some sort of power going to the middle of the switch i think.. a 12v source to the relay, a ground, and switched power in/out to the lights.. so basically when you flick the switch it sends power to the relay which trips that and sends the power from the battery to the lights.. and they should ground through the mounting point..

are you talking about the green wire that goes to the hi beams, you can wire that straight to the battery then the switch controls everything. It is just a turn on wire that tells when the lights can turn on, ex: only when the high beams are on.

The blue wire is simply a ground for the switch which allow the Led to come on. If you don't want the led like I didn't you dont even have to worry about the wire as far as I know. The blue wire coming off the lights is a ground and if you hooked the ground coming off the relay to the body you can just strip the ends and bolt it to the crossmember and you will be grounded. As for how the relay works, the instructions want you to wire them to come on with your hi beams only. You can do several different things with the relay, you can wire it like they want ya to, connect the wire to a constant 12v source like I did, or you can wire it to were they come on only if your headlights are on or if the key is turned.

The wires that I ran so far were is the red to battery, then black to the 2 lights, the yellow is through the firewall, and the blue is grounded to the frame. Now that's all that are hooked up to the relay.

Tomorrow when I get back to working on it I'll ground the two lights and hook up the wires to the switch inside the truck. Yes I bought a new switch with the blue light in it, I'll ground that under somewhere and attach the connectors to the other wires to hook them to the other 2 posts on the switch.

Now kx250frider61 your saying if I take that green wire and instead of connecting it to the highbeam like step 7 says and hook it up to the battery like I did with the other red one on the positive termal it will allow the switch to turn on and off the lights?

That highbeam step is killin me haha, I only want the switch turning on/off the lights and the directions are confusing me X-(

I hope I'm being clear in my problems and inreally do apprecaite*all your tips and help. It's always fun and better when you learn something and do it yourself

You have it mostly figured out it sounds like. Once you get the grounds hooked up depending on how you want the relay to work determines where you run and connect the light green wire. If you want the switch to turn them on no matter what whether the truck is on or not simply run the wire from the battery or any constant 12v source to the toggle switch, then the yellow going through the firewall to the switch as well. Then they will have power and will turn on. Last thing to do is just run the ground from the toggle so the light on the toggle will function.

If you have anymore questions you can just post up, pm me, or I can even give you my number and I can talk ya through it.

Awesome

I decided I just want to have the switch turn on the lights when the truck is on, so where would I run the green wire to?

yeah I think i pretty much understand it now and I'll post back up tomorrow when I get back to it and see if it all works lol

and thanks Shiloh that's really nice of you. I'll for sure pm you or w/e if I get stuck again or need help.

You can run it to pretty much anything that comes on when you turn the key, I would suggest like the accessory wire. Someone has done this before cuz I read his post but I can't remember exactly what he wired to.
