i'm looking to put an intake on my 07 2500 hemi, and am leaning towards the volant, anyone using these? if so how do you like them? also is there any one using the lower scoop?
Had a Volant on my 2000 Silverado for 45k miles. Loved it.
Would probably go Volant if I went CAI on my Ram. I talked to them and they claim 12hp gain but retain the Hemi hat. Loss of Tq (I believe low end) was why they leave it on.
Doesn't the Volant still use the Hemi hat? Since you only gain about 8 dyno proven hp from about any of them so it's all about looks really.
Well I am not so sure. I spoke on the phone with a Volant rep and he assured me they tried their CAI system with and without the Hemi hat. They found Tq was lost with the removal of the Hemi hat and it was not nearly as restrictive as most companies or people believe.
So without dyno #'s showing me all the variables, I am unsure what to believe. What I can tell you, is that Volant CAI's look trick, looks better than OEM set-ups (imo) and sound cool. If CAI's all add about the same hp.....than I still like Volant, even if their gains on the Hemi(with hat) are slightly less than others. Their newest filters are also impressive.
Me ? I'm holding off for now, as I'm happy running an Amsoil Ea air filter in my stock set-up.
thanks for the posts, i'm thinking i'm likely going to get the volant. i'vve had other intakes on my old trucks airraid, aem and s&b and always wanted to try the volant so i think i will. i love the looks of the vararam but after reading posts on its quality not being as high as it could be i'll go the volant route
