Default 05 Daytona or SLT Sport 4x4 ?

I need to upgrade to a larger truck and was in the market for a Daytona or SLT Sport 4x4.
Had a question I was hoping someone would answer for me.. Pardon my noob knowledge... why does the Daytona have a floor shifter for 4x4 but SLT sport has a elctronic dash switch 4x4... which is better.. I use the my current truck to haul tools and wood and my camper for the most part... but need 4x4 for deep snow and mud in the country... Any suggestions would be helpfull... thanks

When I first started looking for trucks I wanted one with the floor shifter. Looked everywhere but finding a Laramie with the floor shifter turned out to be impossible around here. So I ended up getting one with the electronic switch for 4wd. Now that I have it I am actually kind of glad I have it. It has never given me any problems and it is easier than using the shifter which is good when the wife is driving the truck in the snow. Plus, that added floor space is more room for me to store stuff. That area is usually where my phone and a couple other things go.

I love my electronic switch. I believe with the floor shifter you cannot put it into 4WD while driving but with the electronic switch you can.

You can go to 4x4 hi on the fly, You have to stop and be in neutral to go into lo I think.

It is just an option, has nothing to do with the Daytona or sport package.

Right, it has to be in neutral to get it into 4wd lo. On my manual shift 2nd gen it just wouldn't move into that position unless it was in N. On the electronic one I have now it just blinks but will not engage unless I put it in N first then flip the switch.
