Default 2006 Ram quits running after fill up.

Has anyone else had this problem? The last 2 times I have filled my truck up, it has quit running. I pull away from the station, and it immediately dies. No check engine light or anything. I let it set for about 30 seconds, and it starts back up. Once I come to a stop, it dies again. Wait about 30 seconds, and it starts back up.

In my experience a fuel pump will work or it wont! typically it wont be an on and off problem.

Trash or water in the tank. When you fill it, the stuff gets sturred up. then settles out of the way. Just an idea. Try a bottle of heat first then see what happens

Next time I need to fill up, I'm only going to put about 3/4 of the tank full. See if it does it that way. I'm just wondering if there is a ventilation problem?

If anything, don't let it get below 1/2, then fill'er up that way. And yes Weed, I, for the life of me, can't think of his name (Drake**** or something to that effect) had this same problem in his 3/4ton, and went through the process of dropping the tank.

Sounds to me like a ventilation problem as well. Sounds like the pump is working there's just some sort of air lock going on. Does it continue to do this after you've used some of the fuel or does it stop say just below full?

Yes, it could also be sediment in the tank.

Had a similar problem some years back with another truck. Turned out to be the rail mounted fuel filter was clogged up. I'd have to agree it's probably not the pump, but maybe a partly blocked/clogged screen in the tank?
