Default learning lessons the hard way (rant) but i have a ?

i took my truck mechanic to get my timing chain rebuilt today it it was a disaster. i found a kit on ebay with all the parts i need for $300 so i bought it because it saved me almost 250 from buying it from the dealer. well that was a mistake, first off the plastic guide bars where distorted and we found that off with the motor in 3000 pieces. so i drove to the dealer in the middle of a blizzard to buy the guide bars. then the sprocket with the cam sensor on it was from the wrong year. then the tensioners didnt fit and finally the main sprocket had to be forced on with a sledge hammer cause it didnt want to fit. fine dandy every fit correctly and no more noise from the engine and it all seems to be working perfectly. well the check engine like went on and the code was

P0016

so the mechanic was saying that the main sprocket's teeth were off and the timing is off a little. andi have to get a new kit does anyone know what else could cause that code

If you are getting a new kit, spend a little more this time and get the good one. That eBay kit sounds like a disaster.

Some lessons costs more to learn than others. Is it possible for you to dispute the kit you got from eBay and get some of your money back. If they sent you the wrong kit you should have grounds for dispute.
Good luck..

i already opened the case and the seller said he will refund the money but my problem is the 400 dollars it cost me to install the parts and the other 400 dollars its going to cost me to rip my motor apart and redo it

The only way out is to do the work yourself. It wasn't the mechnic's fault the parts were wrong.
Good luck...

The tools you need to change the timing chain are all mostly basic tools that you should already have aside from the damper puller and installer.
