Default Mega Cab

Im looking to get a mega cab. i am deciding between a 08 with the 6.7 with a 5inch lift and 35's and the other is a 2007 with the 5.9 with a 7" lift and 37's. Which would be the better set up for truck pulls?

Get the 5.9 for sure, not for the lift but because the 5.9 is historically a beast!

avoid that 6.7 if at all possible. The emissions equipment on that engine has issues all the time. That 5.9 is a damn reliable setup, and with anything you're going to do to either it can make just as much power as the 6.7. duty cycle is likely different but you're not going to be pulling any car carriers so it won't mater.

im wantin to do a few truck pulls and i want a lifted truck so the truck with a 7" lift and 37's will do just as good as the one with the 5" lift and 35's? dont apply the type of engine in this question just the setup

With height he can lift the back end of the other truck off the ground.

we talked earlier man....ya the 5.9 is proven....but the 6.7 is far from a bad motor. it was thought to be the death of cummins....but a lot of things have come along and changed, and peoples ideas have not changed with the advancements of the 6.7. no i would not own a stock 6.7, that must be stated. but i know SEVERAL with the EGR and DPF delete and have NO problems, and theres nothing like displacement.its physically bigger and can/will make more power than the 5.9....another thing i see wrong here is your lift to tire size ratio....maybe for a 1500, but the 2500 HD sits a good bit higher...you can clear 37s without issue with a 5" lift as long as your backspacing is right and you can do 38's with a 7" all day..many run 37's with a 6" because theres no worries and backspacing/wheel width does not really matter because it clears them so well....if youre going to make a puller, its not going to be stock. your 6.7 will have the DPF gone and the EGR removed. the 5.9 is ready to go which is a plus. but like i said....displacement lol.....but with that said...i would buy a 5.9....bought wouldnt think twice about a 6.7 for all the haters. do you plan on running straight fuel or what? because if i were you, i would basically run my same setup, but add water meth, which ill be doing and get her fire ringed and get some springs....all 3 of those are coming in the near future along with stacking my smarty with an MP-8. dont forget about your trans man. these trucks are great and i love them to death....but the trans is absolute garbage....the trans with the 6.7 is a little more stout than the 48RE thats with the 5.9...and youre going to want a fully built one for any type of pulling or running down the track....and its extremely reliable as a DD....but be ready to shovel out around 5-6 grand for the trans. and go with goerends..although suncoast can make a niece trans....i dont know much about HTT, but a lot of guys like them.
