Default Will a 2007 1500 rear axle fit an 03?

Need to replace my rear diff and was wondering if they'd be the same design? Would this be a bolt on or way more trouble than it's worth?

02-08 1500 rear axles should be all the same.

I will say they are different part numbers, at least between 03 and 08, but from what I can tell visually there's no difference.

Why would you replace the whole axle for the retaining clip issue?

As the clips work there way out of the LSD pockets, as the axel turns, the sharp ends of the clips cut deep into the carrier and the bearings.
This renders the whole axel useless as the bearings actually sit in the axel.
The scoring can be so great, that the entire axel assy has to be replaced.

Just installed an axle out of a 2500 van in my 05 1500. Took a week, new tires shortened driveshaft etc, but was worth it. I replaced pinion bearings and clips 4 times before, and finally got sick of it. Once I shortened the shaft, there was no turning back, and it all worked out. new parking brake cables and 8 bolt on rear/5 on front, but I now have 4.10 and a heavier duty posi. takes some mechanical knowledge, but no special tools, if you take your time. To the dealer on wed to have the speedo calibrated, 7mph fast right now.

Does the 2500 rear end housing have the speed sensor pickup as the 1500?
