Talking Oh To Be Young Again

After dinner tonight, the ol' lady and I hit the "strip" for a few laps, just to see whats happening (in the 'Rango). Big ol' 2nd Gen Ram is romping around, trying to get various trucks to play with'em. Not really a nice truck, but cool beater. At least 33in mudders, huge headache rack with brake lights on the corners, air-horns on each side (not trains, but pretty loud), no-muffler exhaust (Im assuming). So, I cruise by, burping it a little, let him know I'm there.

I hear him reply. We come up to a light, and he inches up enough to get beside me. Two guys and a chick, couldnt have been more than 17, everyone motioning for my window to come down. They all say "Let me hear that thing!!" This induces a big grin, I tell'em "I'll let ya hear it!" Light turns green, I jump a few times, then lay it down for a sec. HUGE grins and thumbs ups! Next light, I ask'em to let me hear his horns (kinda not what I was expecting, but I smiled and said HELL YEAH) we get going, hear him winding it up, then we hit it. Instant 1 truck length, I let out at like...... 40mph, haha. Horns and grins and thumbs ups!! Haha, made me feel like a youngn again, plus made me feel good bout the truck. They were just some good ol' boys, which are rare at that age 'round here anymore.

Not a real exciting story, I should expect to pull on that thing, but it was fun messing around for a few.

sounds like the burg lol. Had a guy in a lifted diesel, probably twin turbo and chipped by the sound of it, try to challenge me on 29 south just past that first food lion. I just smiled and kept goin the speed limit. He floored that thing, and by the time the smoke cleared his truck was gone lol.

Ive had a RC furd bust my *** a couple years ago in my '97 GT vert (slowest stangs ever, almost) Granted, my excuse is my clutch was toasting, but it was a mildly modded, 2.73 geard car, nothing to brag about, but she was my baby. Regardless, didnt feel right losing to a TRUCK, lol. Now, I know a little more, I know a little better. The more the smoke, usually the more the spanking, haha.

Hey neighbhor, I had a 84 Toyota 4x4 ext cab, mod 350 chevy engine, turbo 350 trans, narrowed 9-3/4 rear end, 35" tires and a 8" lift. On the occassion I would play in the Lynchburg area. Top end was scary, but it was actually pretty good at the lights. It was also a good time off road. Small gas tank and seriously tough on gas. A real labor of love. We are going to have to have that beer when I get back stateside.

Yoh, my post was directed at 4.7Ram from Lynchburg who knows the local scene and might even have seen my old truck in the area. But I am delighted you enjoyed the tale. Welcome aboard.
