IMO if you feel like risking it then go for it but I would live with the stock setup and work with the trans to get it shifting right. Spending $3xx something to get a stage II valve body vs 2gs on a new trans.
Ive looked at VB threads and there seems to be a split between the crowd. Some say they are great and the best money they spent. The other half of the crowd say they seen very little change and was a big waste of money.
Besides, Im looking for more that shift firmness, I want the full trans control SC is futuristically talking about.
Im one step ahead of you on the rebuilding of a trans. Ive built several engines before and although a trans is a totally different animal, Im thinking of pricing rebuild kits and reading a lot
I just got Mitchell OnDeman with full trans support so I will have to look around through it and see.

Honestly, I haven't heard of a lot of sucess stories with stacking the DSP on top of the SC. Seems to be a crapshoot as to if it will work or not. Most guys who have been stacking sucessfully that I have read about are stacking a SCT on top of the SC.
I agree, Ive seen a lot of those threads.
But here is my thought on it, SCT wont do trans support anyway and for my 04, DSP doesnt do it either.
So what would be the differences of either one for me. You get what Im saying? I know SC says not to stack SC with DSP because you are doubling parameters and I MIGHT agree with that IF I were using canned tunes from both. But Im not. I just need to load SC for the TCM support and then load DSP for PCM support. My tunes for my PCM are custom so what ever SC MIGHT change will be complete revised and tuned by the DSP. So it doesnt matter what SC changes them to because they will all be changed by DSP for my cam anyway.
Get what I am saying?

I do get what you are saying and it makes perfect sense to me. It seems like that for some reason the DSP tuning does not like being put on top of the SC tuning. At the same time, SCT's tuning does not seem to have a problem with being put on top of SC tuning. For what it is worth, if I was going to stack tuners on my 04, I would do the SCT on SC stack just bc it has been more sucessful for guys who have tried it. Not to say that the DSP on SC won't work, it just seems like that is the more unproven of the two choices.
