Exclamation Advice on replacing ball joints/tie rods

I some how managed to ****in break all upper and lower ball joints and my tie rods need to be replaced now also! So my question is should I buy the parts online and do everything in my driveway or would it be more wise to get it done professionally at a shop (they wanted around $900). Thanks guys for the help

Balljoints are a bit of a PIA, outer tie rods are pretty easy. You will need an alignment after, but you can prob get better grade components if you do it all yourself AND save money at the same time.
Autozone rents tools if you have one nearby.

Upper BJs and rod ends no problem, the lower BJs...not so easy because they are pressed in!

:i con_laugh:

Damn, you gotta pay for bjs? You must not have very good people skills.

edit: In all seriousness I need to look into doin the same thing on mine, the shop didn't replace em like they said they would. So I'll make sure to keep an eye on this thread to see how it turns out.

I would buy the parts and put them all in myself also. To hell with letting a shop do it.

+1 on that

I was doin some more snoopin on DT and found a thread you posted in a while back Weed. This guy was making custom upper and lower control arms that can accept balljoints that are much easier to replace. If ya want I can pm ya guys the link, I'm gonna send him a message and try to find out some more about em.

definitely do it yourself, i did an outer tie rod and that was very easy. i just did a little research online to figure out exactly what to do, and it took me a half hour, get an alignment asap so you dont ruin your treads.

Heres the link just add in the full spelling of DT.

http://www.dt.com/forums/showthread....ght=balljoints

I pm'ed him and got some info, I can't discuss pricing on the open forum but pm me and I'll let ya know. The balljoints he uses are lifetime guaranteed and he will replace them if you ever have any problems, they don't even need greased ever!
