Default W/ 180 therm. why would an e-fan be beneficial?

Hello all,
I was thinking about this last night as I tried to sleep and it kind of stumped me. If I have a 180 thermostat that keeps the engine around 180 why would buying an e-fan be beneficial? Is it only because it gets rid of the clutch fan to release that HP? Kind of confused on this one.

Nico

The 180 T Stat will keep your engine running cooler. The electric fan replaces the belt driven fan to free up horsepower. I have heard it gives you close to 10HP to the rear wheels. It should also slightly improve gas mileage. Although I havent noticed much of a difference.

The thermostat is a separate issue from the heavy rotating mass of the clutch fan.

Yep, removing the engine drive fan will remove the sacrificial load on the engine.
As RubberFrog said, it removes the large reciprocating mass of the fan assy.

10hpto the WHEELS (thats 30 crank hp), and 1.5 mpg (thats a 10-15% increase)... i call BULL!!!!! theres absoLUTELY no way it releases that much power (more like 10 crank hp, or 3-4 rwhp), and it might free up about .5 mpg (5%).

I make no HP claims, and qualified the mpg with I was looking at overhead. I will know more when I check it manually.

you can buy a kit (flex-lite?) but they are dam expensive, or you can get one out of a 3.8L taurus from either the salvage yard or the neighbor's driveway
