There is a high heat P/C actually, I dont think its cheap to do though... I cant remember where I saw it but I know I have seen it before, it's specifically for exhaust and stuff like that, my buddy powdercoated some of the parts on his Yamaha 450 built quad and I know some of the parts he did P/C get really hot.

You can deff powercoat about anything on a car/truck. The temp that the power coat sets up at far exceds that that your motor can do. The reason i said about earlier is there are very few exceptions. I.E. (a super high preformance motor that is pushing over 1500 hp can produce the amount of heat to come close to relaxing the powercoat back to liquid state. However it only comes close. I know that any stock motor can powercoat any part on it without the risk of it comming of. The only prob i can see with the tips it were im a welder for the military i know that stainless steel takes TIG to melt the metal and that burns 10x hotter than the surface of the sun. Point in short....if the powdercoat requires the relaxing of the metal before powdercoat will adhere then it cannot be done. If it does not then it can.

There is so much wrong in this post i do not know where to start. First, do you have any clue how hot your headers and exhaust pipes can get? Second, what does the melting point of stainless steel have to do with whether or not powder coat can withstand the heat? Third, you can MIG weld stainless steel along with TIG. Forth, Stainless steel doesn't have a fixed melting point, it changes with alloy composition. Fifth, on average stainless melts in the 1300-1550C range, the surface of the sun is 5600C.

So in conclusion we're left with two options:
A: You're not a welder
B: You're a welder who doesn't know anything

I know this because I have welding certification in just about everything except for underwater.

I don't mean for this to be a personal attack, but I'm with got_hemi on all points except his conclusion. welding hotter than the sun?!

SMAW and GMAW the arc is incredibly hot, but it's no where near 10X the sun. TIG is cooler than both of those.
