Default egr valve replacement

Hi all. I have 2005 ram 1500 with engine light on that threw a po404 code. Need to clean or replace egr valve. Not sure about where it is located or how to go about removing it. Any suggestions would be awesome.
Thanks!!

EGR valve is in the front of the engine, on the passenger side. Find the metal tube that goes right over the top of the spark plugs (it is covered with black fabric heat wrap). This is the EGR valve exhaust tube. Follow it forward and down to the EGR valve. I believe there are two 10mm bolts attaching this tube to the EGR valve and two 10mm bolts attaching EGR valve to engine block. Not the easiest access but you can do it. Remove the wiring harness by pressing down on black plastic clip with a small screwdriver. There is some technique for this harness but it disconnects fairly easy when you do it right. Insert screwdriver from back of harness (opposite side of the wires). Point being you may have to play with it some but you'll know when you get it right.

Thanks bud. I have the 4.7 engine not the hemi. Is there a different procedure and location for valve depending on engine type? Thanks

Whoops, just saw you have the 4.7. Not sure if the location is different or not. I'd say open the hood and check the spot in the picture I posted and see if it's in that area. Might be the same place.

Yea just talked to a friend. He said it is located back of engine on the drivers side. Should be pretty similar procedure to remove I hope. If you know, would appreciate any info. Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply but it sounds like you are talking about the hemi 5.7, I have the 4.7. Egr is way back on back of ehgine on drivers side. Don't think it will be as easy. Anybody had to do this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know about the 4.7, but I had to replace mine two years ago and took about 30 minutes. It is pretty straight forward. I got mine from David Wooten aka Parts/Service here on DF. He is the parts and service manager at a Dodge Dealership in Georgia. He gives all DF customers a discount. Give him a call and tell him you are a member here.

Default EGR Valve Replacement

Any one know if that once you replace the EGR Valve (AKA..Do it yourself) if you would have to do anything with computer software updates like a Dealer claims they would have to do and CRAM down that down your throats?? LOL

Thanks Fella's!
