after reading this thread i decided to go out, take my seat out, and put some old t-shirts in pillow case and put it underneath the foam. its a little harder than it was before so ill eventually get a piece of foam to replace it, but it sits higher now and i feel like im at the height i should be. its a quick fix but itll work for now. it took all of 20 minutes.
04HemiGreg: I wonder if the "sport" seats are a lil different? They must be better than mine anyway
I honestly don't know if the seats themselves are/were any different for a Sport vs. SLT vs. anything else. I know I have the version with the hidden compartment under the console and I have the pieces, that I never use, under the back seat that fold out and make a floor for cargo. But not sure if any of that is specific to Sport Trim and/or SLT.
I'm a pretty big guy though (6'4"/225), so these seats might be a little less supportive and feel harder to someone smaller.
I'd get the SRT seats for the bolstering, but that's about it. My seats are pretty comfy. I would routinely drive from CT to VA and didn't feel all stiff and whatnot from being in a vehicle for however many hours.
The seats in my 02' are cloth and I freakin love em, I got the electric lumbar support and my little *** is never gonna break down the foam in these things (108lbs ). If I drive more than an hour or so my butt gets to hurtin but if I take out my wallet I'm in heaven again. lol
edit: I had to drive my mom's car 9 and a half hours to Arkansas and that was the most uncomfortable ride ever, I sat on a pillow after about 3 hours. My truck seats are WAY better than the 01 Impala seats.
Ive got the cloth seats too. I like em and they've done the job for now. I really want the laramie seats though. A guy on CL is selling his fronts and backs for $500 here. It's pretty tempting for sure, but not sure I can justify that yet since my current seats are adequate.
06 SLT. Seats aren't bad cruising around but on long drives they start to get annoying. The 02-05 seats are a lot more comfortable but i think the 06-08 look better. When i get around to it i plane on replacing them with SRT seats.
I dislike the seats in my '07 SLT. The driver's side foam appears to be breaking down. I also don't care for the lumbar. Compared to our Town and Country minivan, the seats are terrible. Compared to my '66 mustang, they're great.
