5.7L Hemi-Broken Valve Spring - Help
Had to rub it in a 'lil didn't ya weed?
I woulda gave my right arm for one of those yesterday. Anyone got a good contact for the maker of those? I e-mailed but no reply yet. Want to get one for the big job. Headed out to put rockers, etc back on. Yes, I will be very patient....believe me.
Red-Truck, just got an e-mail from Draggin-Accord, he has a tool ready to go that someone didn't pay for if you want it....just FYI
EDIT: Nevermind, I just reserved it. Figured I better get it now instead of in an emergency. When all done with this, I'm gonna inquire with you guys for suggestions on replacement parts.
I stopped where I was last night, decided to hit it this morning since it was getting late. Plus, I want to try to clean as much of that crap out of there as I possibly can. Should be doin' a victory dance this afternoon eh?

Ok, here's how I overcame the dilemma with the 2nd spring tool that I had in reference to the last pic's I posted. I had to think of how to keep the tool on the already compressed spring and jammed keeper with that goofball metal bucket. Applied as shown in pic's....first put the clamp on while with spring on stem (that was a PITA), got it off, reapplied clamp and spring to tool, slipped compressed spring and tool over valve stem, installed keepers (yep, dropped one, had extra, found dropped keeper)...done....easy fix.

Just to add .... compare the spring out of my LS1 motor and the dodge spring. Sick....just look at the added girth to the LS1. What's Dodge thinking of anyway.
No wonder these things break.
Any suggestions on what I can use to clean the gunk off my rocker arm shaft bar, etc? I want to try to get as much of this crap off before I reinstall it. I've got brake parts cleaner, engine degreaser, etc. Guessing brake cleaner is the best option....no residue left behind.
FireFighter, Just got on to your thread late. You've done a marvelous job working the
system in drawing help from DF and camera documentation, keeping your sanity and not triggering the wheel piece.
When you go to replace the other springs, here are a few fast mode ways I, this
other Georgia fellow gether-done with less stress.
Remove a plug from each cyl. Begin with cyl number as you see best.
Install the air pressure hose plug.
Turn on the air pressure and manually rotate the crank AND WHEN you see/hear
the pressure is building, YOU ARE COMING ON TDC.
Do the stem work and run to the next.
Keep having fun. AL.
