Steve, no the original tool would keep the fingers on for the 1st few turns of compressing spring only, didn't get as far as keeper placement. That tool went back to Advance Auto in the return bin. This new one is what supercharged ram shows in his pic earlier in the thread. The fingers are perfect for this spring, it's the metal bucket that is causing problems with one jaw holding spring. Now as you can see got one keeper in and one jammed. I guess my cooling off period is about done, 'bout to head back out and see what I can do.
Edit: Per your last post, all I can do is use this tool, need to compress it as far as tool will go to get keeper in, just going to be a PITA trying to get jaw in very small opening now with spring on valve stem...plus, this is a very tight area.

No. Go back on previous page and look at edited picture. The tool won't hold now with that bucket in the way. Gotta think...gotta think how I can get it...I will be back. About resorted to violent measures a few minutes ago though.... (at least I know the 44 slug would depress the spring for a brief moment)
Ok, I think I would have thrown the bucket in that fast moving stream a couple of attempts ago. The other springs aren't using a bucket. I'd toss it. anyone have a reason to keep it?

I got it. I will post up how with pics in a little bit. Time to go turn motor by hand and make sure new spring is right. The bucket thing that Dodge has come up with is the most stupid insane thing I have ever seen. Why not just build a better stronger spring than the crap inside the bucket. I am surely going to get one of those custom tools before I replace all the other springs.

Errr...well can't do that until I get the rockers, etc back on. Anyway, turned on some compressed air at 100PSI ...NO air coming thru the TB, just a slight air escape from one of the exhaust valves. If I don't update tonight how I got that sucker off and back on again, I will do so in the morning....with pics. What a %$!@#@!! that was.
