Mine isn't as apparent as when i first got them either, but if you look closely you can still see it. Well, within 5ft you can see it. I think it's within the mold and it will peel off or wear off over time. Likely be all gone once your ready to buy a new round of tires.

Those marks are not on any of my Cooper LTZ's.
I think those are moulding marks but hey......where's the quality control, if they let stuff out like that?
They need to be marked down in price if it's only cosmetic and the buyer informed they are "blems". But, it doesn't give a person any confidence in them when they look like that does it?
After all, (and here's your bargaining chip when going back to the sellers) You can't and shouldn't take any chances with tyres.

IDK, Looks like mold release agent stuck to the tire. Have you tried scrubbing the tire to clean it?

My tires also had what appear to be "wear' on the very corner edge. i had called up discount tire and they were super quick to call Cooper and get right back to me. Guy told me that they were likely shaved down by Cooper for balance reasons??
All i know is that they got some funky stuff going on and that I haven';t had any problem yet and I've run up over a number of curbs already with no issue's.

I snapped a pic of one of my tires that speaks for the rest. Not as bad as yours, but still there. sloooowly wearing away, but I expect there to always be remains left over. i tried scraping the stuff with my fingernail and it's def part of the mold.
