Gear Comparison and Audio update(long with pics)
Recently I had 4.56s and Dtt installed in my truck. Before that the truck was a complete dog and a hassle to drive. I put 35s on it and thought i wasnt missing anything till now. I even forgot that i had Cruise control because at highway speeds it would not hold overdrive at all. Since im now out of my break in period i compiled some before and after stats because im always thinking of the forum. The first and most important stat to me is driveability. Like i stated above, truck was not exciting and kinda of just loud. Now i have no worries using my cruise control, it will hold OD on any hill. Snap off the line has increased 10 fold and the all important link from my right foot to the sh*t eating grin muscle has been restored. So here are the facts. Let it be known that this is on a 05 4.7 QC with 35x12.50x17 mud graps, CAI, RP fluids, cherry bomb si/do and two fresh linen scent stones.
3.55s - 4.56s
RPM @ 60 1500- 2000
RPM @ 70 1800 - 2190
0-60 13.8- 9.8~10
MPG city 7-8- 13-14
MPG hwy 8-9- 12-13
Wheelin ok.- mud slingin **** now 4wd is just that
Total cost of parts and Labor was 2100 USD. Totally worth it, since wifey wouldnt let me get a CTD, I spent the down payment on this and want to keep this truck.
Now to the audio update. We're having a baby here in a month so i needed my rear seat back. before i had two 12 L5s and a 2500 watt RF amp. Loud as hell, but sounded sloppy. Couldnt listen to cds and no back seat. Well with the help of our esteemed co-forumer Dirty Dog I got back my backseat and kept the bass. My current setup is a new JVC head unit, its not top of the line but it has all i wanted two sets of pre-outs, usb ipod control, and channel isolated HPF so i wont blow my new alpine type r door speakers. The Alpines sound amazing, handles the highs and mids i throw at them without any hint of distortion. Now to the bass. I followed many of you and purchased a foxbox on ebay for 149 for 2 10s. For subs I opted for the shallow mount p3 by RF. But i was stumped when it came to wiring the DVCs and getting the right amp for my needs. Enter Dirtydog, and his muscled squirrel giving me advice. He even had an amp that fit my needs perfectly and sold it to me at a great price and even faster shipping. but i ran into some trouble and with his knowledge and timely responses he got me through it and thus i got a new head unit. (old one was a pioneer, and unknown to me the pioneers have an internal ground problem that would lead to feed back in the Rcas.) The P3s are amazing in the little airspace they have to work with. So much more snappy and responsive for the double bass kicks of FFDP. Ok nuff talk heres some pics. Oh BTW i had just snapped the photo of the old system when i threw it back in to demo it for a potential buyer and yes thats a ratchet strap holdin it down

Thats amazing how much the mpg's went up. Thats also a pretty penny you dropped on the setup, but it'll pay for itself after while.
The new stereo setup looks great too! The fox box is somewhere in my future. These Alpines need a little bit more room to perform like I think they can. I also need a tad bit more amp, but it'll suffice for now. Glad you got it all together before the little'un gets here, good luck with everything!!

Rocket- The mpgs went down on the highway cause he could never get the thing to go in OD. Hell, my truck won't stay in OD as it is with 33's, I can't imagine the 35's on a 3.55 geared 4.7. VERY annoying to have it constantly downshift-upshift-downshift. And it won't just downshift one gear, it waits till the last minute to shift down, then drops 2 gears, making it sound like Im racing myself.... (when I try to run cruise control anyways)
