Default EGR Quick ?'s

Got a code that says something about EGR position something or other... Where the heck is my EGR valve located? I'm driving a 2005 Ram, 1500, 4x4, long bed, quad cab with the Hemi.

I need to make an emergency run to rescue my daughter and will drive about 2500 miles.
Can this problem wait til I get home, or do I need to be concerned before I leave?
Could this also be a cause of my really crappy mileage?...7-8 in town & 12 hiway.

Thanks in advance.

It can wait, but it's a $35 part at an auto parts store and a 10 minute swap out. Yes it's A reason for crappy gas mileage and I'm betting your throttle body is filthy too and needs a good cleaning. That's more of an hour job.
If it were me, I'd swap out the EGR, go rescue the girl and then plan on cleaning the TB when you get back.

BTW, there is a complete how-to with pics in the FAQ section...

Hammer,

Thanks for your quick reply. Makes me feel a little better, now. Sounds like I can do this some what easily. I looked in the FAQ section and I must be blind...can't find it. I also did a search on the general forum search engine using "EGR" as my search word and got a 0 topics found, so I'm guessing I'm just having search problems for some reason. Could you attach a link to the procedure for me.

Once again, thanks for making my day a little brighter!!

No problem, searched for "EGR Valve" in the FAQ section, popped right up.

Just did mine last weekend. Took me longer than 10 minutes, though. My socket adapter broke before I got the first bolt broke loose. Quick 25 minute drive to and back from autozone added to my time. LOL!

Thanks a pantload, Guys.

Local parts store will have a new EGR for me tomorrow...$40.00. Gonna try to tackle the throttle body when I get back....sounds like mine might be totally crappy.

I just LOVE forums!!!!!
