Everyone will jump in and say just trade yours in for a 4x4...and I agree with them.
Its not just a transfer case/front diff...you have to get the axle, cv axles, front suspension setup is a bit different on 07 2wd/4wd. The switches, different flash im sure, make sure you match the rear gears
IF you could find an 06-08 that was totaled maybe you could buy it and use it as a donor, but with the way these trucks are set up (computer) its just a real big deal. You would probably be out over 3k with all the parts, not including labor, and if you traded your truck on one you might be out 2-3K (depending on your truck)

It is much easier and cheaper to trade it in on a 4x4.
I helped converted an old (72) chevy to 4x4. It was a ton of work to do and do right. It also takes a lot of time. And it did not have computer controlled anything to worry about and we did a solid axle.

It is just not practical to make the conversion with the way everything is tied to the computers. You would have to have the entire electrical system tranplanted into your truck and the cost of that alone would buy you a nice 2nd hand 4x4.The construction/trouble shooting time would be lengthy to say the least. I have to say do try it. Good luck..
Yup,
All of the above ^^^^^
I also believe you'd have to change out the tranny for the transfer case setup, or get a whole new tail shaft housing. If you use a donor, then you got to get rid of the rest of the truck as in scrap it ot part it out. The interior controls would require a new center for the manual engagement or the wiring and computer flash for the push button engagement.
Lots of them around, just do your homework before you decide to dive in. I'd guess you'd be looking at substatially more than 3-4 G's for the change, after it's all said and done.
You may have to have the type truck changed on the registration too--not sure on that, but wouldn't doubt it.
