Default Front oil seal leak

Hey guys, anyone change out their front oil seal on the crank? The repair manual does not make it seem very difficult. I know I can change it, but I would like to hear about your experience.

It's no big deal as long as you have a huge socket to tap the new seal in, I had to buy one which was about $50. As long as you have the right puller for your pulley and the big socket it will go smoothly, I only had to take off the back part of the shroud to do it all (the part that has 4 screws holding it on). I got the new seal from NAPA but later found out that it's probably cheaper at your local dealer, how bad is yours leaking?

It is not really that bad yet. Leaves spots on the drive, but it seems to be getting worse. I am waiting for the weather here to warm up just a bit first on the coast before I change it out.

Ok, I did mine in my dad's garage so I didn't have to worry about the weather. The manuals say you need to take off the whole shroud and radiator, but I did it by just pulling the shroud extension off that's held on w/ 4 screws. The pulley has always been the worst part for me b/c out of the 2 times I've pulled it, both times I had the wrong puller.

My biggest concern is that I would damage my pulley. I don't want to have to buy another one. I just put this thing on last year or so.

Yea, when you go to get the puller just take it out before you leave and make sure it will work w/ the pulley. We had to pry mine off b/c my dad didn't listen to me about how to use the puller and rammed part of it straight into where the crank bolt goes, then we had to get that out after we got the pulley off .
