Default '06 RAM 1500 HEMI- Remove one or BOTH Resonators?

Hey gang. I have an '06 1500 HEMI (the only year that came with 2 resonators - one before the muffler and one after.) Can I remove both of them or will I run into problems?

I got my AT3030 in the mail today nice and shiny I want to have it welded in by a shop. My questions are: do I need to keep the resonator before the muffler or can I remove both of them? Why did this year come with 2 anyway?

Also, how much do you think a decent price to pay would be to have the resonators replaced with 3" pipe and the muffler welded in? (just don't want to get ripped off.)

Thanks in advance

I have an '07 that had two resonators and just went through the same thing. Initially I left both res's with the ar3030 in between because I was nervous about the loudness. After a couple of days I did not like the sound so went back and had the front res removed. It sounds great now and although noisy when you are stomping on it, its not that bad at cruzing speed. I don't notice any drone but you will hear the MDS go off and on.
With the front res on it had some sound but at low RPM's it sounded terrible. IMO it has to go, if not both of them. That little muffler has some nice sound, you will turn some heads.

Edit: As far as cost, a muffler shop or well outfitted garage should be able to do it in 30 min. or less. $40 is what I was charged.

Cool thanks, $40 or so isn't bad at all. Does it just sound wimpy when the MDS kicks in or what?

I just got a quote that it would be an hour's worth of labor and they would charge me $91.

If I want to go ahed and have a y-pipe put on and have a non-true dual exhaust, would I want 3" pipes running out the sides or 2.5"?

For some reason I thought I heard 2.5" if you split it (I'm thinking ahead because I'm eventually going to put headers on too.

Just got another quote...$150! But the last place I called quoted me for $65. Looks like that's the winner

Just for the record, in 08, they only had the muffler and rear resonator, the front one was deleted. Mine just has straight pipe between the y-pipe and muffler from the factory.

I left both my res's on and lost the muffler. I wasn't really worried about noise as much as I was about losing the back pressure and causing some valve train problems down the road. Even through the Hemi's arent the true old fashion hafl circle heads they are still rather large compared to most V8's and lossing pressure can cause several problems to arise later on.
