Use a new gasket and a thin layer of RTV on both sides of the new gasket. You guys that have never changed your gear lube or have gone many miles over, if I were you I'd be doing it this weekend to avoid serious heartache.

i think the info in that link is a little old. it shows most of the trucks still having a Dana axle.

also, for those of you who have never done this. here is a tutorial on how to do it. super easy. shouldnt take more than 30 min if you arent waiting on rtv to cure.

Boy good thing I did mine what a can of worms in this thread. Uh ddgrl I'm using valvoline frnt and back. I 'm gonna tackle that on a warm summer day I think, you guys and gal let me know how your fronts were to complete. thanks as always for the replys.
ps. the 1500's are supposed to be a little tricky.

doing it soon like beginning of week i was told today that you dont need a gasket that you can just use black rtv sealant

no leaks for me. : )
I guess those heavy duty trucks need a little more help to keep there fluids in the pumpkin! lol (pssst they really only need one or the other ; rvt/ or gasket imo)
