Yes, I am going to run the Sidewinder on the SC at first. Then I am going to try my hand at tuing it with a PSC, just got to find someone who will cut me a good deal on one .

Talked to Bob at Moes and he answered my question. Firstly his builder is out of cores and its not avail right now. the Cam never really took off in popularity for reason as it was never dynod. he said it pulled OK from about 1500 and figured was more freindly than the 260. He has since sold the truck. So thats enough info for me on the Sniper Cam. I think it will be sidewinder for me too, as the Spartan might be just too much for my Spl girl running on the SC.

I think you'll be more than happy with the Sidewinder. If you're not, you can custom tune it and get a whole lot more out of it

so if the sidewinder has so much potential when tuned, how come it still runs well on a canned tune?

AF- how does the sidewinder compare to your 210?

didnt weed start with the sidewinder but his truck wouldnt run right with it??

So Sparta531
Hey guys was wondering where i could find a cheap 260 cam.I have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 quad cab that i want to upgrade a bit. Also what else am i going to need? Thanks
to maybe answer your question if youre still convinced about the 260 the cheapest I've found them was a place called performance parts.com, a bit tricky to find as you need the part number as its on like page 50 something, I have ordered there before myself as a Canadian because there are no border fees just a US 15 handling charge as they have wharehouses up here,

I personnally think the extra dough to get the sidewinder is worth it, and like AF said you can always invest in the required equipement and get a custom tune later. Join the forgottens if you want to discuss further 03 stuff.

The sidewinder (when custom tuned with all supporting mods) is still a little bit short of the torque numbers of the krc 210. The sidewinder has a 114lsa, the krc 210 has a 110lsa. That alone could tell you how aggressive the torque curve is on the 210.

weed started with the sidewinder, but switched because he wanted more power. he wanted to go with the 210x (same as 210 but on a 108lsa instead of the 210's 110 lsa) but found a KILLER deal on the 210. his sidewinder was running on superchips. when he went to the 210 he had to go custom tuning, so obviously the performance jump was huge.

this is another guys dyno from another forum
Here's a couple of my dyno graphs superimposed to show the gains.
The baseline dyno was with the 20's, pacesetter LTs, dual hiflows, ypipe, single cutout, and the regular belt, 4.56 gears, APS 2600 TC, Superchips 91 tune and airram's power wire. (stock mds camshaft stock springs pushrods etc)
FWIW I'd estimate that the TC is hiding at least 20 HP from the dyno based on even earlier dyno comparisons where the LT's plus the TC only increased dyno HP by 10, but had significant gains at the track.
That "stock cam" dyno was done 7-28-2007 ( = 262 HP - 302 TQ. peak)

Anywho, I've put together 2 sets of graphs, to approximately show the gains.

This first set is of that stock cam baseline VS. after the install of the Frank Racing Sidewinder camshaft, 6.1 springs and pushrods with no additional tuning.
(9-29-2007 = 292 HP 321 TQ peak)
The bottom graph is the gain at rpm with a couple of trend lines to generalize the curve.
Power gain over stock cam was 30 hp - 18 TQ at the peaks approx 50 hp& 47 TQ at 6000 rpm.

This second set is comparing that same stock cam baseline to the Sidewinder after installing a PSC1-003 and doing a little WOT A/F tuning to ADD fuel, Also the stock OEM mechanical fan was replaced by an efan prior to that most recent dyno.
(1-26-2008 = 328 HP 352 TQ peak)
Again the bottom graph is the gain at rpm...
Power gain over the stock cam: 66 HP 49 TQ at the peaks and approx 90 HP - 85 TQ at 6000 rpm. (almost 100 HP at 6150)

Comparing the 2 sets. (no graphs of that)
Adding the PSC1 to better tweak a tune for the sidewinder ( and the efan mod) netted additional gains of 36 HP 30 TQ at the peaks and a additional gains of approx 42 HP and 38 TQ at 6000 RPM. vs the just the sidewinder cam swap with no extra tuning and the OEM fan. I'd guess the majority of those extra power gains came from the PSC1 tuning.
So for those considering a sidewinder install, even though it does run fine with just superchips, adding a PSC1 on top of it to tweak the WOT A/F returned a very good bang for the buck.

sidewinder is a great cam when tuned well

good info there silver. Keep in mind all, that the final numbers it gave were only after a PSC1-003 tweaked it a bit. Those numbers are still run off a canned SC tune. There was no custom tuning done yet. Custom tuning will result in even better numbers

wow that 273 is pretty crazy, am going to have to look into buying one for my truck. That's exactly the type of power my truck needs. If any one knows anyone trying to get rid of some let me know.
