Welcome, sounds like you need to join the "Forgottens". There are many of us who would like to re-cam our 03's.

Why did you choose the 260?

Based off what every one was saying about the 6.1 cam. Not to mention i saw a you tube video of a truck taking off, after that i knew that was the one i wanted.

As far as parts go you will also need some 6.1 springs and pushrods. Then all the tools and fluids needed for the swap. Check out weed's diy on swapping a cam, it tells you everything you need to know.

the 260 is still a very mild cam. if you really want performance, i think you'll be disappointed with the 260, especially after the multi-day install

Sparta,
Here is a link to the Forgotten club. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodgefo...tten-club.html

Plan carefully, order your parts and go for it.

Good luck..

I dunno Guys, the 260 from what I have heard talking to someone that has run both it and the 6.1 in his 03 liked it alot better than the 6.1 (I know wasn't my best choice either but better than stock). The 260 likes the Superchips and you can supposably run it with stock springs (But like Teach says I wouldn't just to be safe) Now remember no need to remove the heads or oil pan guys. I think the 03 tranny would also like the 5500 RPM peak as well. A good first Cam if you don't have many mods to start. Just my 2 cents. Maybe something for further discussion in the forgottens?

Here is a chart showing what types of gains you can expect over stock by installing a comp 260 (chart also has the gains for the 268 and 273). This is from an engine dyno and I believe the engine was also running headers.
