You planning on installing it yourself or paying to get it done?

if you got the $1000+ idea from me, its because i went with all the bells and whistles with a new tuner, custom tuning, datalogging/wideband stuff, plus the cam and parts for install. you'll only need the funds for the cam and parts for install (roughly $200 plus cost of cam)

Have a friend that builds and fixes cars for a living. He will put it on for me, this guy is dirt cheap. So i might end up paying 260 for install and the part if what you guys are saying is true. Then i just gotta find a cheap sc and am good to go.

since you have an 03, you'll never have trans tuning available, so if you do superchips get the cheaper 3815.

for what its worth, if i were you i'd definitely get a DSP. the canned tunes are basically identical to SC's, and you have the option of custom tuning (be it tweaking small things yourself, or paying someone else to write an entire custom tune)

if you get a SC, you're stuck with it and cant improve the cam at all unless you switch to dsp, so why not just go straight to the dsp?

i started out with a 3815. had it for about a year, then switched to dsp to support the custom tuning. i ran the dsp for about 3 weeks before i put in the cam, and even on the canned tunes i thought my truck responded much better to the dsp.

just my opinion. its worth the extra $50 they cost used (should be able to find one for $250-$275 vs $200 for SC)

Good advice, then ill try my luck on finding a used DSP. Man my wife's going to love this. We went from having a modded 1000 to having a truck. So we both have been having a hard time trying to get used to something sooo slow. She told me i gotta go out and find more parts to make it faster. The exhaust didn't make to much of a difference, neither did the CAI. Cutting the green wire helped out a lot tho, so with that and a sidewinder; This puppy should roar!

Those are very common words on here, but they usually have a sarcastic connotation to them haha. Lucky you to have a wife that supports your modding habits.

Dont think this thing is gonna be fast after that...its a truck for cryin out loud. the fastest hemi ram in world (barely into 11's in the 1/4) is still much slower than your old car. dont try to compare the two. the idea is to make the truck quicker, not to make a quick truck
