Question Question about fuel gauge?

Alright here's the deal.I have an 03 ram 1500 with the hemi in it. After feeling up with gas and driving about 30 or 45 minutes my gas gauge went to empty and the light came on.I know tank was full. This happenend twice. Both time it was around 30 or 45 minutes worth of driving. To be more specific i was driving down the interstate so it wasnt start and stop driving.Would really like some help or know if anyone else has had this problem and know what it might be.After i turned my engine off and then started it back up the gauge went back to normal again. Thanks for the info in advance if yall have any.

Sounds like maybe loose electrical contacts somewhere in the circuit. Intermittent problems like that are hard to diagnose but if it keeps up you may wanna go after fuel level sender and definately check over wiring for shorts to ground or opens.

Either faulty wiring, faulty floater or faulty sending unit in the tank, assuming your other gauges are working fine that pretty much eliminates pcm/dash wiring faults.

Pyro.My oil pressure gauge was messing up on start up it would show no pressure.Turn it off and back on and back to normal.Guess i need to take it some where to check out dash wiring faults.

Pruitts, I'd run down the other possibilities first, they're a lot cheaper to tackle than having anyone poke around in the dash.

Mine does the same thing if I top off the tank.

There is no wiring problem. Runner the scanner displays a fuel vapor canister code. Running the tank down and 3 warm sarts will eventually clear the code.
