Default Change oil before or after our trip?

Current oil is 1800 miles and about 2-3 mos old. Running mobil 1 5w-20 syn and filter. Leaving for Oregon in 12 days to pick up 5th wheel and pull it back. 2200 miles from Ft Worth and we are taking the scenic route there to visit friends and family. Overall trip could be as much as 5500 miles. Would it be ok to run a bit over or should I go ahead do the oil change.

I try to NEVER do routine maintenance less than a week before a trip. Twelve days is probably OK, so then the skinflint in me would put it off. Highway miles are the easiest. How many miles on the tranny fluid, though?

Since you have another 1200 or so miles to go but think it overall trip will be 5500 miles, why not leave it and change it while you are out on the road?

with only 1800 miles on your synthetic oil right now, there would be no real advantage to changing it out now.
Since I do my synthetic oil changes at 6k miles with mixed driving, you'll have no issue whatsoever with primarily highway driving...

weed, i'm on a 6k change schedule. The trip is 4400 mi as the crow flies but were visting folk all along the way so i added the 1k extra for fudge factor. That would put me @ 1-2k over for an oil change once we return. First long tow trip, Or to Tx with a 5th wheel.

I've used m1 on wife's caravan for 10 years doing 10K changes. Engine still runs
sounds feels great.
I drive 500 miles a week and have been doing 8k changes with M1 and Penzoil Platinum.
Your truck a 2009 with only 7800 miles. Check manual, there might be warranty issues.

Manufacturer reccomends 6k changes, not sure what warranty issues you are talking about.

That is with CONVENTIONAL oil. You have Synthetic.
You are traveling a bit of highway and not so much stop-go which reduces oil breakdown.
I voted no change as it's still like new. I think you'd be throwing your money away.
What I would reccomend is bringing an extra quart of 5w-20 with you incase you find that your burning some.
