Not really just got a thin sheet about 3x3 drew where i need to cut and bend, i made holes where the old air filter sat so i can place the new one in the same place and that was pretty much it.. oh and i bolted it on at the top to the back, u can see in the pick

 

Yeah, I kinda figure out the best way as I go. I made one for a Wrangler and used no box, the one I made for Pyro, he had a fleabay intake that broke that came with the shield, so that was easy, with a buddies Z71 and Cowboy Johnny's, I used the existing air box sans top, the one I just shipped out also replaces a broken one that used no box, so I basically routed it close to the sidewall to use a bracket I fab'd up and then used a 45 to angle it back out and down towards the wheel well.
I think if I'm gonna keep getting asked to make these, I'm gonna start charging a little for my labor and use the money to invest in a small brake, so I can bend boxes for them.

Does anyone know if I could expect a decent gain with a DIY cold air intake without using a tuner?

 

Ballpark you can expect in the neighborhood of 8-14 HP at the crank depending on filter used...

I was going to do a full DIY when Johnny came over to do his, but really what was I gonna take pics of, me with a measuring tape in my hand and cutting PVC on a miter saw???
