From a performance aspect, on a mostly stock truck, the gains are going to be very minimal maybe 5hp and makes the truck a little louder. IMO CAI are more of a support mod that ends up helping after you start really start getting into things to bump the performance. Thats where they really start to shine and become worth the extra $$$ for a good.
Most on here prefer to build their own. I am very happy with my Vararam
I love this setup, but the biggest reason I like it is that you get the spot back along the side where the stock airbox was. Most CAI's place the filter in that location, and I desperately want to install a second battery. Would let you simply buy the passenger side battery box that comes in the CTDs and make a short wire run.
Only problems I see with this unit are 1) PRICE and 2) where it chooses to get the air from. Granted, it's a fantastic place to draw in cooler air, but for me, I am in some mud and water on occasion and it's a sure bet I'd be sucking some water in thru those intakes.
But for a street rod, perfect setup...
