Throttle Body Cleaning

Throttle Body Cleaning
Can you effectively clean the throttle body on an 06' Ram (4.7) without removing it? I cleaned mine last week, after removing the air-hat, I held the butterfly open then scrubbed the back side with a toothbrush soaked in throttle body cleaner. I wiped around the edges and the sides of the body, that I could reach.....is this method good enough, or should I remove the throttle body?

When I cleaned the butterfly, I held it opened and scrubbed the back side with a toothbrush, When I was finished I ran my fingers over it, and it seemed pretty smooth....not sticky, as it was before I started. The main reason I started this post is, I was interested in if there was some other areas that needed attention, or just the back side, of the butterfly....any and all input is appreciated and helpful...thanks to all who reply!

One of my Main concerns, when I cleaned the throttle, in the first place was the way the truck idles. I was told by a local Dodge mechanic that the 4.7s don't have a real smooth idle....has anyone else ever heard or experienced that?....and by the way thanks for the input!! I will remove the throttle body the next time I clean it.
