I want to flush my engine out so what is the best way to do this?

 

I use the Gunk Engine flush sold up here in Canada at Wal-Mart. The directions are easy. I believe you add it to your oil when cold and then run the truck for 10 minutes then drain the oil out. I perform this every spring as with the cold weather the oil gets "Fuelly" around Jan-Feb. Anyways it cleans her out good and with 225,000 Km my valve train is still pretty clean looking. I would suggest spending $12.00 Bucks and get an HP2004 K&N Oil filter (Canadian-Tire) to install afterwards with the 6.6L (Metric EH!) of fresh Oil all-bet assuming you got the Hemi.

 

i do the same thing.. every 3 oil change, but i use just regular old Diesel fuel.. Use about 250ml.
add to oil when cold... run until operating temperature. and then drain oil and replace with new oil and filter!

 

The only thing I was wodering was the service center I went to the other day said if I put cleaner in the oil I can;t get it all out and that there always remain a litre of old oil with the cleaner that can harm the engine.

And yes I have the HEMI engine and love my truck so much It comes first before anything

 

Bull, Those Guys make $12.00 an Hour. I trust Gunk and shift at 6200, No Probs here. Alot of Oil change places sell the service.

 

Don't trust some high school drop out at Jiffy Lube.....

 

Cool, Thanks guys gonna get some on Saturday. Someone also said that after draining the oil I could take my airline at 50 psi through the oil fill cap and blow any oil out...would that work at all?

 

I'd say not really necessary cause you would only be getting the driver's side head. Just let it drain good. The drain plug is already located in a very low spot and with a K&N Filter you will screen out anything left and is the best filter you can buy in Canada other than a Wix. Don't use Fram...

MotorVac makes a machine that hooks up to the engine in place of the oil filter and it injects 16 fluid ounces of a special soap that mixes with the oil and you run the motor at idle for 30 minutes while the eng oil runs through a 5 micron filter on the machine. Normal oil filters are around 35 microns. The machine uses a new filter for each car serviced. After the service you drain the oil from the engine and then the machine puts a 40 psi air presure through both sides of the oil passages to clear the lines and the oil passages that will hold the small amount of remaining oil. Add new oil and new filter and the service is completed. This is a good service to perform on a Diesel or a gas with a carb. The 5.7 Hemi is a very clean running motor and normal oil changes should be all that is really needed. I have 242K miles on my 2004 5.7 Hemi and I performed my first oil change at 3K with a NAPA Gold and full synthetic and I have repeated this at about every 10K since.

I use to work for MotorVac and have performed these service on a few hundered cars over the last 10 years or so. I have never performed this service on my 5.7 Hemi since it has never needed it.

I have performed this service on some of my old cars (carbs) an it works great. I have performed this service on cars with sticking lifters and have had good success.
