3000K HID fogs
I replaced my 8000K fog HIDs with 3000K....the 8000K were just a little too blue for my tastes....
I look forward to checking them out in the morning when it is dark.

Looks good, nice golden yelller color. I use 100w Amber bulbs in my Hellas which appear closer to 4k than 3k. They are fantastic in bad weather conditions. Much better than white lights for sure that blind you in snow and fog, and certainly better than blue which gives you much less visible light.
tsnyder....I re-wired everything using 40amp relays, heavy duty fuse holders and 14 gauge wiring throughout....No issues with anything. It is not too bad to do and it just makes sense. The wires that came on the relay from Hella are crap. They are like 22 gauge or something....very thin.
Is much required in the line of housing mods to retro HID's into the 500 series Hellas?
I was considering HID's in my headlights, but the OEM reflector technology is somewhat sub-par, so I'd be concerned about throwing good money after bad if I went that way.
In my opinion, a set of HID driving lights (for when they are lit up for an extended amount of time, when oncoming traffic is at a minimum) and a set of high output halogen driving lights (for turning off and on to accommodate oncoming traffic) would be the preferred way to go, plus it looks like the crossbar behind the grill on the RAM would easily accommodate 4 500 series Hella lights.

Well, it sort of accomodates four lights.....there is some tubing for AC, etc. that runs along there. My center pair are actually mounted in the front of the crossmember, not on top. The outer pair is mounted to the top.
For the center pair, I had to use some spacers to push the light out far enough to make room for the lines.
And for the HIDs in the Hellas, I had to modify the housing as it is not deep enough for the HID bulbs.

good stuff - that doesn't look too daunting at all.
I have four Hella 500's on order right now - a pair of 500 conventional driving lights and a pair of 500 ff driving lights... one pair of them will be retro'ed with HID's (I suspect the ff's are a better candidate for high output halogens and the conventional ones are best suited for HID's)
