Hemi's Deer, you wont need to recalibrate the speedo for a gear change on these trucks. Check out moesperformance.com for whatever you need. Not your only option, but a start, and they've got great prices and even better service.

Nozmadd, if you have 2 identical trucks with the only difference being one has longtubes, one has shorties, i honestly dont think one would pull ahead of the other off the line. once they get going, longtubes win. Yes, shorties have more torque, but we're talking single digit differences between them (on torque only). I dont think you're gonna be seeing that slight of a difference transfer to pavement

Actually, I guess in theory if you had a super charger, which starts to kick in at higher rpms, you would want the shorties so you have better low end because the high end would be covered lol. Or maybe I am totally off my rocker

I think you guys are being mislead by the "shorties offer more torque". Honestly the difference is so slight. If you're getting headers, get longtubes. Really the only reason people get shorties is for emissions reasons.

More airflow = more power. Thats all there is to it.

I understand the difference and it is mostly as you said emission reasons. I was joking about the 6000rpm burnout. But for every day use and street legal safe shorty's is the way to go.

I disagree. Longtubes are the way to go if you dont have emissions laws strictly prohibiting them. Take a poll of those with headers. Theres a reason probably 8/10 have longtubes. I'd be willing to bet those that dont have longtubes only chose shorties because they were limited by emissions laws.

Longtubes are by far the better choice for any application. period.

Ok so I know i need a new cai, but if I were to get headers should i also get a new cat since i already have a cat back exhaust? then technically everything from the intake to exhaust would be after market making everything flow better?
