I have no shroud at all and have no cooling issues. It is not needed but does hide the fan and makes it look more original

Alright, I was thinking that maybe with part of the shroud missing that I was getting some sort of cooling problems. Ordered the Relays and got the fuse holder and fuses. I am going to run to a switch that will control which relay will be getting power to turn on and I was wondering if there was a rubber gromet to run the wires thru the firewall. I haven't checked yet, but figured I'd ask what the best way to accomplish this would be.

Bad idea on the switch because if you ever forget or loan your truck out and it doesnt get turned on.....then you over heat.

Just do it right and spend $40 on a controller and save the engine.

There are a few places right behind and beside the brake booster you can go through

I know for a fact the shroud helps in directing as much air as possible through the radiator, HOWEVER I don't recall EVER hearing tell of anyone having cooling problems after removing one.

I chose to leave mine in because I'd be the first one to have a problem, LOL...

I'm getting a Single Pole, Double Throw switch so one of the fans will be active at one time. This prevents the low side temp sensor relay from activating while the High side is running.

I kept the shroud because I didn't want to have to redo the reservoirs for the antifreeze and washer fluid. Plus I think it looks nicer.

Im confused because you only have one fan right?

Also, can you please post your electrical diagram of how you are going to run this. That way maybe I can understand better.

Alright fellas, I've been following this thread as well as searching for other "Taurus" fan threads (there are many). What exactly is the benefit from the fan swap other than a few HP?

$150 in parts and a few hours of work = what?

garider i did mine about 3 weeks ago and i had $80 bucks into it total and all my stuff was brand new so i would do some more searching if you're coming up with $150. Some guys are willing to buy a used fan and in that case i'm sure you could get cost down to $50 total. The benefit is it is one less thing the engine is pulling so i was able to gain just over 1 mpg for $80 and 4 hours of work. The more important part is you get rid of the loud cluth fan so you can hear more important things like the exhaust.

My fan was 25 and my controller was 40. I later invested another 20 getting a different fuse holder, bigger fuses and a bigger relay all to run the high side of the fan.
