Default Oil change

Hey guys,

I just did an oil change on my 2005 1500 with the hemi. I used 5w20 mobil1. I put 7qt`s in but it is saying that I am 1qt low. I thought all the hemi`s took 7qt`s? Any idea why it is saying 1qt low. The truck is sitting perfectly level and I even moved it to another spot and checked it again. This is my first time changeing it since I got it. Thanks!

Whoa! DO NOT put in another quart until you're sure you have the right dip stick (presuming you're SURE you put in seven quarts).

No did not put any in the filter. It is showing 3/4 of a qt low now. I guess I will just drive it for a day or two and see what it does. I also have a slight engine ping. Does anyone recommend something that I could add to the oil to help?

Just drive it for now. The ping could be anything. Seven quarts is seven quarts. Assuming you didn't use a ginormous filter, that's good enough. It's a good idea to put oil in the filter before you spin it on, but that won't change the capacity. What filter did you use?

7 qrts always puts me right on the top line in both the ram and the 300c.

Well, unless it does have a non-stock pan, I'd say the dip stick go swapped on ya. Maybe you should call two dealers and ask what the part number is for the dip stick for your truck. They'll want the last four of your VIN.

*EDIT* Oops last EIGHT of the VIN

Hemi's spec is 7 qts but some differ.
7 quarts should meet up midway in the safe area to the top of the safe area.
when you say 3/4 quart low im guessing your saying its only a 1/4 above that low line...
I always put 7.25 quarts in RAM
7 quarts in 300c, magnum, charger, challenger, etc
