Default Headlights too dim need brighter ones

hey guys i'm new to the forum I have a 04 1500 ram hemi with 5.7 and dual cold air intake. I've done some customizing to my truck starting with head and tail lights. I bought the lights from my brother without really questioning how much the lights would dim with the smoke on the front. The Answer its waaay to dim once the eyes adjust its not bad but the dash lights need to be down and ipod off etc. I need new lights putting stocks back in is not an option. I've seen the Halo/projectors on ebay and various places, they look really cool but some think they aren't bright enough. The stock light was good and bright I just wanted the custom look. I've seen some with black housing that would look really good but I want to completely rule out the projectors before I buy stock style. At this point before a big road trip I don't have time to put in HIDs. Does anyone know of a projector that is nice and bright around $200 (or less lol) that would compare to new stock in brightness. I'm kindof in a crunch and I need to order them today hopefully to get them in in time to go on the trip. Any info would be very helpful.

Aftermarket projectors are hit or miss. Your better off getting the OEM Halogen style lights you want and installing an HID conversion kit, especially if it's brightness you are after. HIDExtra sells them to members for $60. Go check out the For sale section for their ad. They are under Vendor/group buys. OR, you could just try a set of HID's in your current smoked lights. That will def. make them brighter.
*dont's forget to ask for a relay kit harness if you do purchase a pair of hid's form them. It'll eliminate any flicker.

Well cool glad a fellow dodge enthusiast (that probably knows way more than I do) likes the choice. I went ahead and ordered them I know hid's are hotter but I have some sort of phillips hi-powered sons of guns in there that are bright but the smoke kills em'. I'm curious to see how bright they are with no smoke ;-) Thanks for the help

HID's will only run hotter if you make poor electrical connections.

Your stock lights are 55 watts, typical HID kits are 35 watts and the higher powered ones are also 55 watts.

55 watts of heat is always going to be 55 watts of heat - whether you use 55 watt baseboard heaters for lights or the fanciest 55watt HID retroe'd projector set-up.

Spend your money on very high quality HID's to mount behind your grille if you need superior lighting.
