go to a pro shop for window tint, its not that expensive. Only go with a place that does LUMAR brand of windo tint. Its the best stuff out there. I had it on my Subary for 3 yrs before I sold it and it still looked good, and was very durable. My whole car for both front side windows, backseat side windows, back wagon side windows and back hatch window only cost a little over 200 bucks for it. I am near Sacramento, CA, but I am sure that it would be the same wherever you are. I did 35% if I remeber right and it was dark enough in most cases. I will go lime next time.
If you want to get a dark look put 5% on the back window and 20% on the sides. This way you can still see out the side and you have mirrors for the back. I bought my tint at Autozone 3 1/2 years ago and it is still as dark today as when I put it on. Not turning purple or peeling. If you do right you can tint a quad cab with 3 rolls of tint good stuff will on set you back 30 a roll.
I think the tint shop told me that the factory was 12%. They did the back and it matches perfect. Up front I have 22% and it is fine at night. Check your laws though. My buddy cop takes the persons license and puts it behind the tint. About 15% I think is what his trick works out to. They also have the machines that work like a Spec 20 for all you chemistry people out there. If he can't read it he'll give them a warning. Next time he gives a ticket. He doesn't get a thrill out of writing tickets like some A-hole cops do. There are good ones and bad ones, just like in everything else. It took him almost 1 1/2 months to fill up 1 ticket book.

no way.. 12% for the smoked stock ??
my 35% is darker then my moms rear smoke windows..
also here in california, the min for the front windows is 35% and the rear windows is you can go as low as 0% which is just painting the windows black. lol and i belive i can go down 4" on my front windsheild.

When I got my truck only the 2 rear doors were tinted. The rear and fronts were clear. The tint shop I used told me the 12% would match the rear 2 doors and did that on the rear window. On the front they did 22%. They used Solar Gard film. As far as I can tell the 2 rear doors and rear window are so close I can't tell a difference. The front doors are definitely lighter but not by much.
My 04 QC came with the 2 rear doors tinted. I used LLUMAR 20% to match it up. It matches up real good. All the films read a little different on the tint-o-meter the cops use. The 20% llumar reads about 27% light transmittance. They all have around the same UV rejection rating, close to 99% and a heat rejection between 45 and 55%. Unless you go with a shiny type, like LLUMARS platinum series, that gets the heat rejection up in the 70% range.
I worked at a shop for about 5 years before I went back to school to get my education on, but I still tint some on the side for friends and stuff. That stuff is so cheap it is ridiculous. It is about 1.25 per linear foot of 20" wide material. So the cost per door window is about 6.00 LOL.
